Hey there!
I’m Erika Young.
My clients often refer to me as a vocal doula, hip mechanic, pelvic floor whisperer, body and breath magician.
My story includes a lifetime of athletic pursuits, including gymnastics, collegiate track and field, long track speedskating, triathlon, and roller derby. My most athletic achievement is 3 pregnancies, which left me with significant pelvic floor dysfunction. Following a significant brain injury in 2014, I had to relearn how to live in my body again. I went from standing on top of podiums to relearning how to walk up steps and learning how to focus my eyes so I could earn the clearance to drive a car again. I have been both a champion athlete and a total beginner.
My work is a combination of principals from strength training, sports psychology, somatic techniques for nervous system regulation, sensory integration, breathwork and biomechanics. Together we create a set of tools that you can use to get un-stuck and release the restriction in your body and voice.
This work is a homecoming of sorts. I would love to help you come home to your body. To help you feel grounded, authentic, and powerful in your vocal and physical expression.
Often they don’t know exactly how to categorize me, but they report that their bodies finally feel better, often after a long road of frustrating physical therapy appointments, temporary relief from bodywork, and other dead-end attempts to resolve their pain and symptoms.
I am a strength and performance coach, postnatal corrective exercise specialist, breathwork guide, and relentless researcher who studies how to optimize each individual body for optimal vocal and physical power and resilience.
I am also an intuitive guide, listener, holder of stories, sherpa of strength, patient teacher, and catalyst for renewed optimism.
